Manalapan, New Jersey- On Sunday, March 17th, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, the Manalapan Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee (MVAAC) is hosting its 7th Annual Model Train Show fundraiser at the Manalapan Community Center, located at 114 Route 33 West, just past Peking Pavilion. All ages will enjoy the show, and we expect our usual large turnout. Model railroaders from Monmouth and Ocean Counties have donated their time and effort to set up their train displays for your enjoyment. Former NY Giant Stephen Baker, “The Touchdown Maker,” will set up his radio-controlled models and virtual reality equipment. Donations collected will go toward honoring and supporting local veterans with events such as programs on Veterans Rights and Services and our annual Veterans Day Ceremony in November. Come to the Train Show and meet the Manalapan Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee (MVAAC), which serves our Veterans community through many activities and events.
Our mission is to connect local vets with key resources available to them and their families. For a returning veteran, it can be a difficult transition from a combat zone to ordinary life at home. That’s why the Center for Veterans at Manalapan was created. It is an extension of the Lakewood Vet Center and is hosted by Manalapan Township through the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee (MVAAC). The Center for Veterans is open every Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Manalapan Community Center. Services for veterans include readjustment counseling (group and individual counseling) as well as help registering with the VA for benefits. Free guitar lessons through Guitars for Vets are offered after the counseling group.
